Hello
I am new to the forums but my pops has been on here for awile cruising around. Yesterday I picked up a Sea Ray Pachanga 19 for $400 with trailer, Alpha One Complete and all of the interior but it needs some love and I will undergoing doing the stringers soon. Also no more 4.3 I should be picking up a 454 complete motor minus carb and valve covers next few days to rebuild and get ready for its new home. I will post some pictures of the new project.
Well enough for now and Hello from the PNW

so far it has been a good winter for working on boats outside. my beer got warm on me while rebuilding my back seat box on sunday! anyway, measure your engine compartment for length-width before committing to big block. i know 350 fits, but i think it is pretty tight. i almost bought one over the winter, but it had glass damage on top. i can fix broken glass, but i doubt i could make it pretty enough for spousal unit. i will dig around my old emails. i may have some pics. edit; nope file was deleted.

I will be cutting out the rear seat glass in one piece before the floor so If i have to make it Fit I will. Unless I get this deal on a SBC that is on craigslist.
Bad thing about this boat is I would have to split the hull which I can not do or cut out the molded fiberglass and re install after I am done cleaning out the cancer.

width between mounts (on stringers) is same for all 3 motors. mounts for big and small block are in same place, 3 to 4 inches forward from v6 mount locations. what do you mean cancer? are you redoing the stringers?

You are most likely going to want to look for a new alpha upper with gearing for the power you'll have with the addition of the v8. They are a 1.84 gear when paired with the 4.3 and you'll want to find a 1.5 ratio upper more suited to the V8. This is all assuming this is an alpha gen 1. If it is a gen 2 the ratios are little different but still the same idea.

Hi there,
I had one of these new in 1988. Loved the boat, with the 205 (4.3) ran 53mph on radar and handled beautifully. I broke the 4.3 a few years later and moved up to a 350. It ran 65 but just didn't handle the same. I think it had to do with the extra weight in the back. I'd be worried about stepping up to a big block in that boat, not sure the hull will ride right with it.
Just my two cents. Have fun with it, great boat.
