I'm installing Gils on my 292 SR1. They are wider than the stock manifolds and I'm going to have to move the ram that raises the hatch because right now its in the middle of the manifolds. For those of you with gils or other manifolds where is your ram? In front or in back of the engines?

you may need to add spring loaded shocks on the side if you go behind. ram will have much less leverage-much more weight. and most manufacturers don't install anything that is a lot stronger than it has to be.

Formula put 420's in the 311 and 357's which would have had gils on them and also have the same beam as the 292 which is 8 feet. So there is a way Formula did this from the factory as there isn't enough room to mount the ram with between the manifolds if gils were used. If there is one thing I can say about Formula, it's that they don't skimp when building boats. Their boats are heavy for a reason.
