Default Grider Hill

The wife and I took a Sunday drive up to Grider Hill today to check it out for the summer and the poker run in July. Looks tight to get a 38 footer/trailer in and out. Any of you guys been up there with your rigs? Where do you park the trailer, etc?

Grider Hill is our home marina in the summer. 38's, 42's, even bigger are not a problem. If you get there on Friday you will probably be able to park it right there at the launch ramp lot.

Default Grider Hill

Thanks for the advice. We want to do the run. Looks like we'll just have to get there early. Also, do you guys stay at the lodge there at the marina or would you recommend another spot nearby?

It's been many years since I've stayed at Grider, back in the days of 76 falls. From what I remember it was pretty nice although the room was quite dated. Most people don't sleep much during Poker Run or Holiday weekends so that didn't matter much to us.

It really depends on what your plans are that weekend? Do you plan on just doing the run and cruising around the lake relaxing in a cove or do you plan on doing the run then heading straight to Harmon to party?

Grider is pretty far from Harmon.....

I would suggest staying at GH as that is where the official poker run party is for both fri and sat nights.

The marina is nice and there is a motel on hwy 90 that is nice to. I think it is a Best Western in Albany, Ky. We stay at the marina every year for the State Dock run in Sept, and the ramp is fine for any boat. If the parking lot is full, there are storage places down the road to drop your trailer. They won't charge much at all.
