Angry WTF MD, luxory tax on boats of 35k or more

Luxury Tax to be introduced to leg. This is just getting insane with all these taxes, ect ect. Contact you local officials. What are they trying to do to MD boating, jesus.

HB 1345 Has been introduced to the legislature. This bill would impose a “ Luxury Tax” on boat with a price greater than $35,000. This TAX is not limited to boats only. Flood the legislature with phone calls to oppose this bill.

You can view the bill at http://mlis.state.md.us/2012rs/bills/hb/hb1345f.pdf

Hopefully here in the USA today all taxpayers will get the message that they nned to hold all elected and appointed public officals to a simple three step Mantra!

"WASTE LESS, SPEND LESS, TAX LESS!"

As long as we as taxpayers give them the power to continue in their current MO they will keep it up until we are all broke!

Best Regards,

There is a simple way to eliminate corruption, waistful spending, and high taxes at the federal and state level. All the while unifying our country more than it has ever been over the last hundred years. A simple repeal of the 16 amendment would force all direct taxes (income taxes) to be apportioned back to the states. The original purpose of apportioning direct taxes is three fold. 1) It eliminates the need for state icome taxes and unify's the taxation of direct taxes uniformly across the country 2) It prevents politicians from enslaving Americans to pay for their slush fund 3) It unifies the American people by seeking to eliminate the opportunity to divide people into classes based on wealth.

Viturally every politician that was around at the passing of the 16th amandment unanimously regrets it. Few things have done more to destroy our country.

John C. Calhuoun 1850 quote: The necessary result, then, of the unequal fiscal action of the government is, to divide the community into two great classes; one consisting of those who, in reality, pay the taxes, and, of course, bear exclusively the burthen of supporting the government; and the other, of those who are the recipients of their proceeds, through disbursements, and who are, in fact, supported by the government; or, in fewer words, to divide it into tax-payers and tax-consumers.That it will be so used, unless prevented, is, from the constitution of man, just as certain as that it can be so used; and that, if not prevented, it must give rise to two parties, and to violent conflicts and struggles between them, to obtain the control of the government, is, for the same reason, not less certain.

The result of the 16th amendment is the deterioration of America you see today. It was a double whammy on citizens as they were forced to pay direct taxes at the federal and state level.

If you really want to hurl, here's a pic of the bill sponsors -the two women in the center.

Let me get this straight - are you suggesting that you know how better to spend your money than these two economic gurus? And what about the issue of "Fairness?" If you can fork out $35,000 for a boat you have obviously wronged somebody?

TexomaP you left out that Texas has no state income tax. I believe Florida and Tennessee also are the same way? Others? This does help, does it not?

Not sure what your asking. The idea of apportionment is that the government collects the income tax and distributes it back to the states based on census (population). The same holds true to the states. If their direct taxes were also apportioned they would have to distribute it to the different county's based on population.
