this is the boat i was wondering about abandoned titles for. TRS's look pretty good-not eaten up. stock 330's. thru PROP exhaust. i don't think that is too common. ebay item number 300669960360 south jersey, right across river from philadelphia. it is at 5500 or so now. i am pretty sure his reserve is below 10k. 440 hours i think. i know a guy who can transport, but he doesn't go thru New York...

OK...fellow "Bird Head"...I have a boating friend here that helps me and also helps me through my thinking process. He steers me away from having a warehouse full of projects...otherwise I would have a building full of these things....so read on.
This is a great find...and if you had found this before you got into your 272 project I would tell you to go for it. You have to ask yourself ...how many projects you can handle.
This is a decent Formula time capsule from the glorious '80's. I would love to tackle it myself...but you have to look at and understand the process. Pretend that you buy it for $7500...then you have to get wheels under it. Do you have the tow vehicle to handle 5 tons of boat and trailer? Any road worthy trailer will run you $3K~$5K. Next move to the boat...do you want that bottom paint to stay on there (personally I think it looks terrible)? Big job to strip that off. The TRS drives are relics and parts sources are dwindling. The drives have been in the water...stored in the water as has the boat. Any gel coat blisters as a result? You will spend $10K to put this one where you want it...if the drives and engines prove to be solid.
There is an ad on Craigslist Miami for a pair of 502 drop ins along with A~Z Bravo I everything for $15K... great addition to that old 302.
As has been said..always study the downside ...because the upside will take care of it's self.
If you can handle 2 at once...or have someone at your door to buy you out of your 272 with what you have in it...I say go for it. Otherwise finish the 272...enjoy it for a few years...then move to the next boat.
Then again...if you can't help yourself and buy it...get a copy of the most recent registration along with a bill of sale and I can help you run it through Alabama...with a new registration.
Just my thoughts...
