It might not end that bad that quick. I would def go with the 177 bit if you plan on going to bigger cu in then go ahea and use the 250.
I did this back in the day and got about 20 hours on a fat tune until a rod checked out because a piston melted. It is a for sure way to upgrade.

as long as you are upgrading, get the biggest blower you can. run about 30 lbs of boost. you'll be upgrading by the end of the day. or better yet, sell the 330's instead of blowing (pun intended) them up!

I know of 3 cast BBC engines that have been running on blowers for years.
2 330 hp running a 174 and a 177 4.5lbs
1 310 hp running a procharger 5 lbs with aeromotive fuel system
the 310 blew up last year, because of overheating, it has been on that boat for years however. He had a water issue but kept using the boat. The other two no problems, they both even have square port intakes going to peanut heads.....all 3 single engine boats gained 10mph +/-
The thing you have to understand is if anything goes wrong, just a little, you will pop them. you will have to be conservative on timing and fuel trim. Just a little knock and you will be grenading. Fuel and water gauges should be added for extra security. A stock 330 hp will prob run for 30 mins with low water, let it cool and go. Add a blower and that same engine would have trouble running for seconds hot under boost. However, this is also true on most boosted engines, things happen fast with a blower. Forged components however can handle a longer duration of knock and ping. They also can be overheated somewhat without coming apart.
IMO go for it, you have the cheapest long block BBC you can buy, remans are out there for $2k! Destroy a 500 hp with a blower and you may be out $6-8k!
I would also do a 250 style blower, the 174/177 makes a lot of heat. Do the 250 with the single carb plate, you can always add twin carbs later when you build big power.

If you just want it to blow up after a few hours, well PSI or Whipple can help you with that. But then again you leafblower will prolly do it too. Why do you want to put money into an engine that is not supposed to last? Even if you only want it to last a short time, you'll still need parts to go with the blower. Fuel system, cooling ect. Save the money, sell the 454 and build yourself a nice 509-532 9.8 deck BBC. Also remember that if you are really unlucky, the engine failure will take out the sc as well. If you MUST do it, get a cheap 177, sell the sc when the motor is done for and start with a clean slate.
