Does anyone have suggestions on how to mount speakers to the inside of the engine hatch?

So are you thinking speakers on the underside of hatches to play when hatches are open and you are beachside?

Be aware that if you mount a speaker in a engine compartment and the back of the cone is exposed it will pick up the engine noise and degrade the sound badly. Boxing them in a enclosure will eliminate most of that

Speaker mounting and selection depends on how you want to use the speakers.
Since you are talking engine compartment are you wanting sound into the cockpit while tied up partying/beached or firing back while coved in the water / at the dock?

A ready made, good sounding option might be Waves and Wheels (LOTO), quad pod. Used heavily on arches, looks like there would be plenty of room in your engine compartment. Able to be custom painted if you choose.

Given the hard nature of your hatch, a mounting plate with 4 studs could be glassed to the hatch then the enclosure bolted on?

IF you want to reach out, be heard over the usual din of noise and get noticed, HLCD is the way to go!
Some audio snobs say HLCD is too sharp but this is not a fine listening room, it is a noisy outdoor environment and piezo tweets really cant cut it.

8" HLCD will give max mids with the highs (actually same mount as JL 7.7)
Wakeboard speaker cans could be glassed in but I would think loading them in a custom glass enclosure might look better.

Nice Hustler, looks like you do things right but make sure whatever you decide receives plenty of power!

I would rough in a box enclosure with the correct air space matching your particular speakers’ requirements that fits inside of the hatches ribs then I would fiberglass the top of them so that you could have it painted to match the rest of your ride making it look as finished as possible. You can easily make the fiber glassed area of the speaker box have depth and or make it match the lines of what is around it to blend in better and or stand out, your choice.
