I have a Bravo One on my Velocity. The previous owner did not Have the proper anodes or none at all. Long story short the transom assembly is in rough shape. I am in the process of sanding it as smooth as I can. What is the best coating to use to refinish? Is the Quicksilver spray bomb paint any good? Should I use a self etching primer? Are there any fillers that I can use for a couple of small pits?

I've heard of people using jb Weld to fill the pits, but never tried it myself. I would think a good marine grade filler and then a high build etching primer.

I have used Marine Tek as a filler and had good success with the Mercruiser Zinc Chromate primer and their Phantom Black...both in rattle cans.

The pits or low spots that I have (after sanding) are not very deep. I think I am going to skip filling them and use a good etching primer and an enamel gloss black engine paint. I think once primered and painted the spots I am talking about won't be noticable. If they are noticable it will really take a sharp eye to see as they are pretty small. SOmetimes I get caught up in little details no one else sees.... It won't ever look perfect unless I completly replace the transom assembly and gimble housing anyway. So anything I do will be an improvement over what it looks like now. It functions fine, the gimble is tight and the bellows are in great shape so no need in replacing all of that just because of minor cosmetics.....
