if your towing the 24 footer, then ride in comfort get a 1/2 ton gas. I am towing with either my explorer limited v8 4.6. it tows awesome with my 24 or the 28. its the wifes suv. also bought a f150 ext cab 4.6 going to set it up too.3/4 or 1 ton trucks ride hard. with diesel theres no savings, back in 1995 there was, but now a diesel truck will get 15 mpg towing and a 150 will to with a 4.6 or 5.4 v8. diesel costs more too. my 28 gots to be 6500lbs with the trailer or more. call me we have a few suvs and 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton trucks at Gerry's dealerships.

Artie might be right if you're only pulling a 24' boat... a diesel might be overkill if the buget is limited. You should be able to find a really nice 3/4 or 1 ton gasser for $7k or less.

yea i had been towing with a tundra its a little small for it though. Im thinking a 2500hd is probably the perfect truck for it... just tough finding one that hasnt been beat on. i refuse to go into debt so my budget is my budget.

whatever you need but a diesel in your price range is not going to have any more power than a modern day half ton. The issues and maint cost on an old truck like that good luck, like we have said for 3-4k a half ton is mine, i dont think your going to see a difference.
