My exhaust exits under the swim platform, i wasnt to relocate the exits higher or maybe even over the platform....Any ideas or tips on filling and glassing the old holes? Thanks

heres a thread i did on dash holes its the same basic principal for exhaust holes. For the wood plug you will want to take two pieces of 3/4" ply and laminate them together then take a hole saw the same size as the exhaust and knock out your plugs. This is a real nice solid method that makes a strong permanent piece.

Whats the reason for moving them above the swim platform?

Thanks alot Dave, That is basically what i was thinking but im new to boating so needed some input..
I want to route the exh different for a few reasons and correct me if im wrong or if its not worth it....
Im scared of reversion and been trying to read alot about it...I could move the tails up about 5" right to the bottom of the platform but the tails will still be in the water...(its a baja 226 with a molded platform).. I believe this is how i hurt my other motor and i dont want to take a chance with the new powerplant!
Also I like my stuff loud!! Thanks again

well, i guess reversion is a cam issue and you should post in the General Tech Q&A section about that. I would put up cam specs and see if anyone can help sort that out.
I always thought they sounded much better and even louder under a platform. My old Scorpion only had basically stock small blocks with Gil risers on Merc manifolds and sounded better then anything i have ever had. Had guys chase me down to a dock to see what was in it. I dunno just sounded great under that thin flimsy Chris Craft platform i think i kinda resonated in there lol.

Reversion should not be an issue as long as you have a cam designed for the application. Many boats have under platform exhausts. You are looking at a lot of work to correct a non-issue............. Your boat will be just as loud (when on plane) no matter where you mount the tail pipes (under or above the platform)

I had an Islander 226 and I installed the thru hull exhaust myself. I mounted the tips as high as I could under the swim platform and used Eddie Marine tips with an internal flapper and never had an issue...also running a 540. One 540 was from a suppose to be reputable Performance place where as the owner is a liar...claiming 631 HP, but actually dynoed at 517 HP and another 540 that really did make 650+ HP...still no issues. If you raise the tips, you are decreasing your angle and if you put them above the swim platform, then your angle will be going downhill towards the motor...NOT a good idea. And to top that off, people are going to get burned or cut if they slip on the swim platform and fall on the tips. PM me an email addy and I will send you pics of how I routed my exhaust. Yours might be like mine in that I couldnt go straight back on the starboard side because the power steering ram was dead center in the way.

I believe he's thinking water is backing down the exhaust when he decelerates or is turned off and calling it reversion? Theres more to this story, hurt engine, reversion? Seems like he should properly diagnose what the issue was to begin with before he goes butchering the back of the boat up? I agree with US1 that raising the pipes will make it worse by decreasing the angle of the pipes making it harder for water to run out especially after he shuts down. Being that high what ever water is left in the pipe now runs back to the engine.

i don't think that is reversion. i think it is called drowning your engine when it is off. the side exh exits did that on my 27 Nova last time i owned it. guy i sold it cut holes just above molded platform. it looks stupid. it devalues the boat. i got it back for $1500 though so i won't gripe too loud.
