Apparently a 51' Outerlimits with twin turbines spun out somewhere in Cape Cod. Any information on the boat or what happened? Read the comments under the video to see some interesting ideas of what caused this...

Well I cant see youtube at work..is it an old video?? Haggin/gieco have the 51 ol with turbines..it was spun a couple years ago, no damage, no ejections... they came into a corner in a race to hot, turbines take a little longer to slow down when you let off.

It's definitely an interesting video, it's not like he was driving recklessly or anything. A great reminder to be very careful on the water. Here's another link to the history of the boat. One guy suggested the spin could be caused by a mixture of the tabbing and the light weight of the turbines unevenly distributed around the boat.

The turbines removed allot of weight on the boat...changed the entire ride attitude, so less weight on the rear, boat was unsettled, moved forward. This is not a new video...if you take weight out of the rear...it's logical...the whole angle of attack is changed. You can spin out any stepped boat if you don't know what you're doing, or you yank the wheel hard and don't correct....it's now the caveman boat and is being converted to diesels I believe...
I saw this boat when it was first rigged at Arruda's...
If you look at the turn, the weight came off the steps, he didn't correct, caught the wave and it spun.

Pat, u have a new toy/ride? That AMF boat or a predecessor to it had the exhaust coming out the transom near water level. They changed it pretty quickly to avoid ingestion. Installed huge stainless plates over the transom cut outs. Exhaust was set up similar to Denns's HELLFIRE Skater and others that make a complete U-turn. Nick whats AMF mean ? ps: Pat you must have seen the original exhaust lay out @ Turbine Marine ??
