Default 30 Cougar Cat Arneson drives

A friend of mine who's Dad recently passed away, inherited his 30 Cougar cat. (not the Cali Cougar) It's got Arneson drives and 525SC Merc motors. It's a very clean low use ride, been stored inside but not been used in eight yrs, possibly 10.

He's got no interest in it and offered it to me. I'd love to have it, would be a fun project waking it up but what's it worth?

Anyone have any experience in how the 30 Cougar runs? With Arnesons? What speeds could be expected with 525SC's?

I'm going to look at it next week.

Thanks,

Kurt

Ross Perot had one that ran about 110 (in 1983/84) back when the offshore speed record was about 95mph, The only offshore boat faster was Fayva's Lil cat with Arnesons that Stuffed and came apart. The guy who owned the "Riveted" boat had one of these as well. They can hual the mail. What color is this one? there where only about 6 or 8 made (in the states) Brownie's Son, Fastdonzi would know a bit about them also, as would Nick Miller (the one that works with Brownie) get some pic's of it.....

Hey, I remember those. Ross Perots boat had Right & Left Rotation engines, this way when it launched off a wave it would fly level (laterally). This (ross's boat) was for sale on here a few years ago with no power or drives. there was also a light weight honey combed core one built with twin McClaren Big blocks. They are not "Racing" Hulls like a skater, but more the Big Brother to the Cougar Cub. It was after seeing one of these at the Cougar Yard on 188th st that Don Aronow made the Blue Thunder. They actually have a decent (low profile) cabin and decent sized Cockpit. They fly over big chop so well you don't even feel it. I'd like to see pics of the one your looking at, I'll let you know where it fit's in of the few built.

Big thanks for the replies. -This is a toy that belonged to a good buddy's dad who recently passed away. I might be able to give it a good home. I'm going to take a good look next week.

Very cool piece of history. Looking forward to seeing some pix's.
Would think it'd be a killer boat for surface drives.
