What would you guys use? i was told 5200 was to strong you would never get them back off.

Corsa told me to use marine silicone. but read on a few threads and see peopl eusing all kinds of 3M products.

I used 3m marine silicone on the last set i replaced and never leaked

I've used 5200 and removed part with a little heat. One part came off with most of the sealant on the SS part. The other SS part left most of the sealant on the glass. Niether leaked or ruined anything.
I've since used 4200 and haven't removed it ever.
I "think" the differece is set up time. 5200/week, 4200/24hours.

I prefer 3M 4200 over marine silicone but there is nothing wrong with using it in this application. Do not use 5200. While the old tips are off, make sure the exposed wood is properly sealed with resin.

I have always used regular silicone and never had a problem. Everything always stays dry for me.

If i put these one thruday night, see any problems taking it to the water friday at noon?

Normal 5200 takes several days to fully cure. But, they do make a "fast cure" that cures in 24 hours if I remember right.

You don't need the 5200, which is more of a bonding/ adhesive product. You want a sealant.. I have great results using the 3M marine silicone sealant. Seems to stick a lot better than the standard silicone products. 4200 is in between

Just a FYI, They do make anti-bond solvent for 5200 incase you want to remove it. Never tried it but the videos make it look like it works.

I would just use some marine silicone sealant. The 4200 does not seal any better and just has more adhesive properties. 5200 is way overkill and is made for permanent installs that you never want to take off.
