I don't think you can beat Raylar's upgrade package for those engines.

Thank You , Haxter!
Yes we think the Raylar HP675efi exchange package for the HP525efi is a great turn-key warranteed replacement for an existing HP525.
Here is some info attached on the package for any HP525efi owners considering a sizeable upgrade for their HP525 efi engine without sacraficing reliability and including a warranty! The current avatar here on OSO is one of these engines we keep in stock! Why do we stop at 675HP, because that's about all you can reliably put thorugh the stock Bravo XR drive most all HP525efi's are equipped with. This engine represents about the same power and torque level of the 600sci engine Mercury Racing equips with an XR drive.

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

Another intriguing option is a Whipple kit which will boost hp 50 %. That should get you up to near 800 hp for 9-12 grand complete: http://speedonthewater.com/new-boats...or-525efi.html

Wink Here's our take

Yes, the Raylar HP675efi engine is an exchange program and is priced @ $15,875 per engine plus S&H with good complete core engine that has no damage or non-functioning parts and accessories. The picture of this engine is right on the Avatar attached to this post.
Yes, the HP675efi runs on 89 octane- 91 octane not required.

Yes, the Whipple makes great superchargers and this is a nice kit, makes a lot more power, about 850HP I've been told, REQUIRES A NEW $20k STRONGER DRIVE, uses only 91-93 octane fuel, is not a whole new redone blueprinted engine and costs about the same with installation labor and no warranty on the engine after installation.

I am obviously biased but I think our package is a better overall offering for reliability and most HP525efi users, especially if they are in need of a refresh or rebuild and want more power based on these type of factors, But, Hey, its your money and your boat , so you make that call !

Ray, it's true that not everyone wants to go with a SC. I was just pointing out another cool option. I'm going to leave my 525 100% stock for awhile and just enjoy it.

I will say that I would be hesitant to trade my engine in as a core and receive back an engine of unknown vintage or history....
