Yes, its basically a Stepp 22 pad hull with a euro top. For the 230, the 30 and 22 are pure velocity. More or less just a marketing deal, Regal wanted a go-fast, so the partnership was made, Steve saw corners being cut and didn't want his name associated with it, so he walked away. But Regal kept the rights and the molds for a few more years.

Steve sold or licensed Regal to build the boats for a couple of years they built a 22 and 23. The 23 was the same hull as a 22 but had a swim platform built into it and a larger cabin. They also built the 30. Steve got back into building but under the Throughbred name of boats for a couple of years, but then he reacquird the velocity name back sometime after that.

I had a Velocity 23 with 454 Magnum/Bravo and Latham steering. REALLY nice cabin to read Sunday's paper or take a nap for a 23 footer. I loved the boat sans leaks between hull and deck and the Latham steering Bravo bracket rubbing underneath the swin platform when trimmed to the trailer position! Handling was a bit quirky until the sweet spot for trim was discovered. I traded for the Fountain...but still miss the Regal Velocity 23!

Had a Throughbred Velocity 22. Never did find the sweet spot for the trim. Sold it for a big lose and bought a Fountain Fever 27. Love the boat but have to much invested in Fountain too. I would not go back.
