Default Any Lk St Clair Houses on Water for Rent?

Does anyone know of any "cheaper" houses on St Clair w/ lake access on a canal, etc? Preferably with a hoist for, say, a 28 ft boat?

I'm sick of my RO loft/condo, and seeing as I'm beyond upside down it looks like I have to rent it. Luckily rent is sky high in Royal Oak so I'll do OK I guess.

I've been looking and seems none have a hoist, but am finding passable places for $1k or so. What are people's thoughts of leaving it in the water for a summer? How many pullouts to clean, etc does it take to keep it cleanish? Or is it just a non-starter and forget it?

I think you'll find the water quality in the canals will promote a rapid algae growth on your hull.

Yeah, I figure it'd get nasty fast in stagnant water, but it'd be so nice to have the boat at the house!

For what I save on rack storage maybe I could pick up a used hoist or something, or just rack store it closer I guess and park it there over the weekend sometimes.

My house on the Clinton River will be up for rent next year (July 2013). Don't leave the boat in the water any where around here. Stuff grows fast in the river. I bought an Air Dock this year.

That could work for next year.

That's what I'm hearing on the water here in the canals. How much do the air docks run?

It grows real fast. First year I lived and had my boat at South Harbor Club apartments/harbor right on the lake and only took about one week for a good amount of growth. Bought the house last year, docked the boat behind the house on the river and it was the same, there really is not much of a current on the river. I got my Air Dock used but new they run 3-4k. The nice thing is it's portable and can be used anywhere. When I get transfered next year I will be taking it with me. If you google Air Dock you can get lots of info from their website.

Thanks for the info. If I can find a house on a canal that's 2 years of rack storage for an air dock so it could definitely make sense.
