Are these boats worth restoring and are they any good for the open ocean? Also would it be a better set up with outboards or inboards?
I found one that might be worth doing, I just need to know how well they handle and the quality of the boat.
thanks

I don't think Excaliber was using Kevlar back in 1976. When Kevlar first came out it was called Kevalr 49. A few raceboats were made with it during the late 1970's, so I dout Excaliber was Kevlar. Buyer beware, bet it is good ol Polyester.

i know the boat you are talking about... excaliburs are well built, the decks are glassed to the hull and all the finishing hardware is top quality stainless. From what i have read people say the older 24 footers are not built as strong as the later ones. It is easy enough to tell if the boat is made of kevlar it will be yellow weave and i believe will have KV in the HIN

From the response it sounds like it's nothing real special. If anybody is interested it is advertized on craigslist for 5500 and he would take 4500.00 it has two extra long shaft 200hp mercs on it and they look pretty good.
