Default 27zx with bad motor

Im looking at a 1996 27zx that has newer paint and interior but it has a 502 with a spun bearing. Hes asking 13,000 for it and I was just wondering what everyone thought. Has anyone had a 96 and did they like it? Whats everyones opinion on cost to rebuild (6000)? Im pretty sure its a non stepped hull which would ride good but not be that fast. Thanks

honestly... you can probably buy one that runs for that price.

They aren't the sexiest looking boats and they aren't that fast. I hear the ride is good but I doubt it's much better than the twin step version.

Well it's not got a good engine in it . Yeah if I buy and put 7000 in it should be a good boat. But is it worth the money? It won't be that fast and could I get any money reselling? I'm not against it just want some opinions

i think you should compare the one vette lt is talking about and see if the one you are looking at is going to be worth at least $5000 more when done that is what the motor is going to cost. or offer 13000 on the one on boat trader and you will be up and running

The bottom line with any motor rebuild is who's doing the work. If you can do it yourself with out a labor cost. It's pretty inexpensive to rebuild a motor. To pay some one else ,not so. A Spun bearing may require a crank grind or a new crank Also * Note that a salt water boat would not have been flushed out. In General the Money you put in a boat is always more than it's worth.

Unless it's a Bench Seat Hornet
