Default Propping a 290

Buddy's in the process of getting another motor built up. When done, he'll have two 454s at approx. 480 hp each. Bravo 1 factory drives.

In people's experience here, what props are you running, and what are your results? I know stock, people (XT I believe) said the boat ran about 70 with twin 330 hp factory motors. Not sure what the factory prop was for a 1995 290.

Thx!

Also, anybody know where I can find a brochure for a 1995? They used to be on one of the Baja websites for older models, but can't seem to find it now.

If I had to guess it would be 28 labs. Best thing would be to get with BBlades.

The brochure's used to be on Baja marines website when Brunswick owned them. Not sure if they have been put up at BBO yet or not.

I could venture a guess on what you will need, but thats all it would be. Stock props would probably be a 23 mirage plus with 330s, most of the 385 mag motors have 25 mirage props that I have seen, or 26 bravo ones. I agree with calling bblades, he would know where to start.

My guess is Brett will recomend a mirage + for that boat. Something in the 27" range.
Then290's had a deeper x than the 29 Outlaws.
There is a 290 in the classifieds with 525hp motors.(http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o45137-en.html)
You might want to call him & see what he has tried along with what Bblades says.

Not sure if I would believe 70 with 330s. I know with 540hp 502s in a 280 run 26 b1 runs right at 80 about 5200

The 290 was an honest 70MPH boat with 330's. Was a 21 degree hull so a bit faster than a 24 degree.
