Please help to explain how works

Can some please explain to me how the Brazil valve works on the add on hydrolic steering system. I just put one on my boat and I still am using the cable but does the Brazil valve acually move the cylinder to make the drive move from side to side or does it just fill the cylinders with pressure and allow the drive to be solid. And basiclly just moves the fluid back and forth??????? I hope someone understands what im trying to ask, or talking about
. I know this is probly a dumb question I just want to know exactly what its doing.. Thanks in advance

basically the brazil valve is a flow control valve to operate the external ram, when you install the brazil valve you remove the piston and cylinder off the existing internal ram thus eliminating that ram, now the brazil valve controls flow to the external ram and that is now your power steering, advantages are smoother steering and a solid drive, disadvantages are your still at mercy of the cable and dual ram setups tend to be harder to steer at low rpm due to small power steering pump, i also think if the steering cable breaks the drive will stay locked in center without making that dreaded 90* turn at speed

Thanks Hammer I did get it installed and took it to the lake yesterday and tested it out. the drive is rock solid now. It is a little harder to steer at the dock but not bad at all. the install turned out great and not to brag but it looks bad a$$ with it on there. I will be saving up my money to get the other part to make it full hydro. one step at a time
. Again thanks for the help.
