Default Need glassdave to look at this crack I just found in my hull

Just noticed this crack in my hull near the rear of the boat. Can't tell if it is delam or impact fracture. Looks to be brown water running out of it and we all know what that means, core rott. Has me sick to my stomach, can't replace it for what I've got in it and don't know if insurance will pay to repair. What should I do? New interior two years ago. New motor last year. I'm pretty well phucked I believe.

Dont run that by your insurance company, most likely get denied then cancelled. Yes that looks like some core issues, needs attention before it gets worse or de lams. Are there any supporting features above that?

Is this an impact crack? It looks like maybe it is but I don't know enough about glass to say. Just before the crack is the dark streak that can be seen in the picture and it is a fairly deep gouge. Just wonder if the two happened at the same time? Can't recall ever hitting anything but can't say for sure I didn't either. What would you guys do? I have the local glass guy comig by to look tomorrow to get his opinion. I'd hate to see what fixing this would cost. Guess I'm gonna find out.

Thanks so much for the call and Input!!!! Before I didn't know what to do but after talking to you I feel much better. The fear of the known is a terrible thing!!! If any of you guys get a chance to talk with Dave about fiberglass work you should do it. He really makes it much easier to understand what is going on what it's gonna take to fix it. I feel much better now about what I might be getting into. Thanks again Dave, I really really appreciate it!! If we ever meet, beers are on me!! Ill be sure to let you know what the local glass guy says tomorrow.

My glass guy just left the house after looking at the boat. It does have some water intrusion to the core but the balsa is not rotten. I have to pull the engine and he is going to open p the bilge area and remove the damaged wood and reinforce the area with another material then refinish the bottom of the hull with more glass and new gel. Only gonna set me back $1000, I've seen this guys work before and he does an excellent job, he has 30 years experience doing glass work so I'm confident that he will do me right, I will take a few pics if I can to post the progress. Thanks guys for all the input, we all know what boat stands for, Bust Out Another Thousand!! Cheaper than buying a new one I suppose, can't wait to be back on the water.
