Default Questions on stereo install in 32 Victory

Well, I have been contemplating installing a new system in my 32 Victory but am real confused on routing of wiring in this boat. I currently have a head unit in the cabin, with 4 speakers in the cockpit and 2 in the cabin. I want to install an upgraded head unit, a 5 channel amp (both in the cabin), a couple of subs in the rear seat and some better speakers in the cockpit and cabin. My question is where and how do you run the wires from inside the cabin to the batteries? I figured out that you have to remove the mirror in the head to access the guages and switches on the helm. Does the battery access (in the floor) go all the way to the cabin? Before I decide on exactly WHAT I want to install, I gotta figure out HOW. Any help would be great!

CH, i believe your cabin/boat set up is similar to my 34, with your radio head unit on the port side in the cabinet and the fresh water tank under the floor just in front of or a little under the port front seat. I ran the wiring under the floor from the battery compartment to the cabin cabinet. I had to remove the fridge and close the sliding door to access the wiring. if you don't have the fridge, you'll have to get into the lower cabinet. Wiring to the starboard side was the trick. I found out the the factory wiring ran under the step located in the cabinet coming from the cockpit. There is two screws in the riser part of the step that allows access to wiring. The wiring goes up along the helm past the shifter to the starboard speakers. To run wiring under the floor, i used a metal electricians fish tape, that i straightened out as much as possible. On my boat the battery compartment to above the water tank to the cabinet behind the sliding door is an open cavity. What's your plans on your radio system wiring?

That's pretty much what I was thinking. I don't have a frig, so it should be an easy find to get to the access in the cabin. My main question was how the wiring crosses over to the starboard side, which makes sense that it goes under the step. I wired an onboard battery charger and it was to say the least a beeeootch getting in the battery tray. I was hoping to run the power cables (2g)straight from the battery to a dist block under the cabinet. I love the construction of these boats, but they did not plan on future access to wiring. I'll post what I find this weekend. Thanks!

a little recommendation for your wiring and what I did: run your cabin speakers off of the radio amp. A good radio will come with 4-channels, that will be plenty of power for the cabin. Personally I frown on running subs off of the five channel. Just not enough pop. I used a JL 750 mono AMP for the subs (currently running 4 IB 10"JL's). I then used a six channel AMP because i have 6- 7" speakers in the cockpit. If you are going with 4, use the four channel. Jl or any other good quality AMP will be smaller in size, which will offer more mounting options. Currently mine are mounted behind the microwave or if your boat didn't come with one, in the upper cabinet. Another nice feature is to put a switch on the blue trigger wire that goes from the radio to the AMP. This way if you want to shut down the cockpit but have the cabin sounds going, hit the switch. just my 2x

On my old 32 I ran the wiring to the other side by going under/through the achor locker in the open bow, it was a shorter rout and fairly easy.

Well, since mine is not an open bow, I don't have an anchor locker up front. I hopefully can go the route 575 went and run it up on the port side stringer. I'll report back after this weekend. Thanks!

Ebay.. I also have a dealer about 30mi from me.. I had 4-8" and 1-12" on my Scarab that sank last year so they were under salt water for 24Hr... I hope they last.. I added 4-6.5" and another 12" for the Advantage.. I went with the JL amps because they are smaller in size..

Well, got a chance to some investigating on how I'm going to run the wires on a stereo and found that there is NO access from the battery box forward. I'm thinking now that I may just mount the amps somewhere in the rear of the boat. Not sure where, but if I were to try and mount them in the cabin, it would take 30+' of power cable and that's too much.
