How is poker run attendance this season compaired to recent years

Im sitting here in the still cold Michigan waiting for the sun to shine, but wondering what the warmer parts of the country are experiencing at the poker runs. Is attendance up?
What do you think the percentages of new boats to used boats are? Are new boats attendance going up or down?
Are there any new owners who have never attended before?

Several of us commented that desert storm seemed a little smaller thus year. Many of the high profile (baller) rigs from previous years didn't show up. Still an awesome event with a great turn out just not as over the top as previous years.

Good questions though. I also am curious

A couple of the winter season PR in Florida were very poorly attended.
The fun runs organized by BTB and the volunteers at FMO club were well attended.
The obvious answers to what happened are both questionable weather and the fact that some organizations have back to back weekend events between two groups and both end up with less than optimum attendance.
The advent of For Fun runs organized by volunteers has really affected the For Profit events.
A day on the water for $ 150.00 as opposed to $ 1000.00 has changed things somewhat.

I dont know about attendance, but the chatter about them is way down. One wouldnt even know Desert Story was occuring except for a few threads. Their is only one thread about Jax. Poker run and not much talk. Usually the Jammin on the James run dominates the talk in our area, normally about 12-15 pages long by now, its at 4 pages now. Not really too much talk about it. Smith Moutain Lake is coming up next for us, its always a good time, cant judge too much by that, its more fun, family oriented, not so much about all out speed.

Well the economy isnt better and gas is higher I would expect less attendance and not any new boats. problem with poker runs is now instead of paying 2-300 in fuel its now going to be double that. Add in the cost of towing to the site, the couple hundred bucks of getting into the event, gonna have to be a pretty bad ace event for me to shell out 1000 bucks in a weekend.

I've been in two so far this year. I'm new to power boat poker runs as I bought my boat last year, but both poker runs were SLAMMED with boats. One being the tickfaw 200 this past weekend and it was AWESOME!! So many nice boats to see at every stop. Only bad thing about the tickfaw 200 was the feeling I have about my own boat after seeing some super nice ones this weekend.
