So I just bought this boat last Sept. Don't have a lot of maintenance history on the boat, going thru the engine, drive etc...... After reading the threads on soot issues on the transom,.... as I do get some, I want to have the 2 carbs gone thru . Can any one tell me any feedback about Nickersons Performance out of Bristol Pa? I have a 540 with a wieand 256, runnig 6 lbs of boost. They have a spec sheet to fill out a mile long about the engine specs...... Anyone ?

Dean does good carb work... usually he tends to be alittle on the lean side, so do alot of plug readings. Alot of people have had good luck with AED carbs and they are alot cheaper than Nickerson

I'm running AED's on my 540's and can't say enough good things about them. I sent my carbs back to them over the winter and they went thru them, no charge and sent them back.

I've always heard Nickerson was the go-to-guy. Quality work and honest. My carb's will most likely head that way in the fall for rebuilds unless it's just cheaper to modernize. $0.02
