Default Non-skid additive for gelcoat , can i spray it ?

I need to apply non-skid on a part I'm making and want to use that non-skid additive to my gelcoat when I spray it .

A .Can it be sprayed ?
B. Is it difficult to get the correct consistency
I have always used oo sand thrown into wet gelcoat then after dry apply another coat of gelcoat . What type material is it and what grit would I need ?
I'm using a cup gun with lower pressure so gelcoat has texture

Thanks
Larry

Sorry, no help here. I have always done the broadcast on wet gel then re coat method. I think you may have problems with it sinking or inconsistent results. Non skid has always been a trial and error thing and i have always done spray outs and test panels til i get just what i need.

Thanks Dave ! Called the tech line @ awgrip and need a pressure pot with agitator to spray grip tex . What type of shaker do you use to distribute griptex ? After I my first coat of wet gelcoat I will broadcast then another coat gelcoat with cupgun ( low pressure to get texture) after that dries the entire part will be painted with urethane . Dave would use course or extra course since its going to buried with coat gelcoat and coat Urethane ?

Thanks again
Larry

Use Pumice.
Sand is a sharp crystal. Think of sand paper not good.
Use a fine pumice. It can be mixed & sprayed with gel in a cup gun.
Fiberglass coatings in St. Pete or any fiberglass supply house should carry it.
Most Fl. flats boat have it on their decks or it is used on the plug to produce the effect. I can show you pictures if you like.

finish sand your area and apply gel coat. Then as it tacks, get a high end paint roller sleeve and roll it with no roller over it.

spray the area with one batch of gel let it cure perfect and flat. then reduce the pressure and make the gun spit out your pattern.
