Default Paint vs. Galvanize

I'm in the process of setting up my new to me aluminum trailer, changing some bunks around and swapping out some zinc bolts for stainless. Most of the steel brakckets on this trailer are galvanized and currently look to be in great shape. My question is, would thees parts last longer if I blasted off the galvanize and refinished them with a good epoxy primer and paint? I have a strong background in industrial blasting and refinishing...asphalt plants, mining equipment ect..ect...It would take me no time at all to blast this pile of small parts and have them redone with top notch materials. It just seems to me that a lot of galvanized stuff I see nowadays has rust on it, so I'm wondering if a thorough refinish with quality materials will last longer than something that was most likley galvanized in China. The trailer will only be seeing salt a few times per year.

Thoughts??

Just don't use any alkyd primers or topcoats directly over the galvanized surface.
