I need help. yesterday went to the lake.Did a couple of wide open runs. when I went to go to shore.My boat started skipping when I gave it gas.But fine at idle. checked the timing today it was fine. ckecked fuel pump It was fine. wires were ckecked,everything looks good but I cant give it any throttle with out it choking or missing. any help please? 1988 454 big block,RPM Edlebrock intake,quadajet carb.

good idle? most likely the q-jet.

Check your fuel filter.

Sounds like accelerator pump seal went . When you throttle up it's taking a big gulp of air instead of fuel = massive bog . It's been happening alot lately because of the ethanol in the fuel eating the rubber . You need to update to ethanol resistant parts .

I'm putting on msd ignititoin tonight then a holly carb. I'm going to find the problem one way or another$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. and it sucks

A complete rebuild kit with the ethanol resistant float , needle & seat and accelerator pump is only about $50.00 . I hate to see you just throw money at it especially when there are no performance gains to be had by replacing the originals . Put your hard earned dinero's in the fuel tank and go have fun .
