Default Wide Load permits and driving on Sunday

Heading from Nashville to Jacksonville for the River Rally pulling down my MTI and I was a good samaritan and contacted Mercury Permits and was told that I can't travel on Sunday in GA and TN, FL is ok. Well really needing to get home on Sunday presents a serious problem so my options include:

1. giving it a shot and playing dumb with no permit
2. playing dumb with a permit
3. telling them there was an emergency at home
4. asking forgiveness rather than permission
5. staying until Monday which I really don't want to do!

What's my odds with any or all of these? What's the penalty or ticket that I could expect if I get caught and harassed? Otherwise I am legal throughout with truck, tags, insurance, tow rating on everything, etc...

How wide is wide compared to the over 9' rule of thumb???

Less than 10' wide I'd take my chances with 1 and 4.
Over 10' wide I'd take my chances with 2 and 4 and if you feel the need pull number 3 out of the hat, but make sure and have a family member who knows that if the phone call comes what they're supposed to say and which family member it is, an elderly member in medical distress would probably be the best.

Good luck and have a great run in Jacksonville!!!

See ya,
Kelly

Being you live in Nashville I would head south on 65 and go through Alabama. As you know you only have about an hours drive before you get to Alabama. Tn. Scales should be closed on Sunday and I think you should be ok. Head toward Dothan Al. and pick-up the highway and head south. Interstate 10 is about 1 to 1 1/2 hours from Dolthan.

Forgot what highway out of Dolthan, don't hold me to it but I think it is Hwy 231

Florida's pretty tight on those things. It's a crap shoot. I had a 40 MTI and had it impounded 30 miles from my house because I did not follow permit restrictions. Keep in mind they impounded my truck, trailer, and boat. That happened in Oklahoma but I know Florida's tighter on those things. Going to Destin Fl a couple of years ago we barely crossed state line and got pulled over. Luckily we where legal. I think it's a thing your willing to risk till you get caught.

I'd play dumb. I've done it umpteen times with a 44 MTI and knock on wood, haven't been stopped. I usually go through Atlanta and then over to Memphis.

Default A quick GPS check shows

Nashville to Jacksonville, Fl is 563 miles
Nashville to Dothan to Cottonwood to Jacksonville is 655 miles, with no Georgia!
I would advise checking with AAA and make sure there are no construction or closure areas. Granted, not likely, but better safe than sorry!

play dumb if caught
dont put on any wide load signs
say its a "personal vehicle"

it all depends on who stops you. if you get one that's knows whats going on you'll have alot of issues
