Question Engine oil? Drive oil?

Running stock Merc 500 HP’s and Bravo 1 drives.

Is the Shell Rotella’T Triple protection 15W/40W oil still good for the flat tappet cams?

Should I just stay with the HP Merc drive oil?

I don’t think that I need any exotic fluids since I am running mostly stock components.

Thank you for any help in advance.

Last time I checked, the Rotella had reduced levels of zinc to comply with the latest specs.

The Mercury 25w40 had a good slug of zinc last time I checked, also Valvoline VR-1 and Spectro Motorgard.

Thanks Ken.

Looks like I will stick with the Valvoline VR-1 race oil.

Now what about the drive oil?

Thanks

Get some Mercruiser HP Drive lub from your marine dealer.
