Default Tranny cooler for 86 scarab with trs drives

I have a 86 Scarab with twin bbc and trs drives. I was putting the trans coolers back on and popped a hole in the transmission cooler. Any one have one or know where to get one ASAP

Are you talking about the small coolers that go into the side of the MercII trans? Near impossible to find a replacement for one of those but you can probly have it repaired at a radiator repair shop. Their copper tubes but they need to be cooked clean before they can solder them up.

I don't think so? It's one of the crappyest set ups I've ever seen Merc come up with. If I remember right it's like a plate/cover that bolts to the side of the trans with a copper coil that drops into the inside of the trans emersed in the oil. The plate has fittings on the outside for the cooling water in and out so theres no way to direct the oil out of the trans and thru a cooler, that I know of. They are pretty easy to fix tho and any auto radiator shop shoould be able to repair or make one up with the plate. IMO their not providing alot of cooling anyway and could probly be eliminated. The TRS is on the way of extinction soon especially the MercII trans. You could probly convert over to some Borg Warner trans but the engines would need to be moved forward or theres always Konrads. Either way it ain't cheap.

Being an '86, it should have Borg Warner, Velvet Drive trannies, not the old MercTrans. A cooler for a BW is typically under 200 bucks. We sell them at Konrad, give me a call if I can help.
