On the early ones like late 80's are the V8-24 big block and the V8-22 small block regardless if they are the box type or the smaller flat type.And either will work with the J1171 dist.Thanks JOHN SR

I had that configuration on my boat when I bought it. Same distributors 2 different style ignitions. 1 box other little triangle looking thing. These were the distributors that had the screws off the back that you put the wires on with a nut.

Is that what you were asking about?
