Default Left my lower unit @ bottom of lake!

Looking for a lower with the side pickups. Are all newer ones interchangable with my upper? '94 Bravo

Do you have anything left of the internals? I will admit I do not know much about drives, but there is a new lower case only (SWP) at the Marina where Eric & I keep our boats at; for $600.
Sorry to hear of the troubles.

Sydwayz,
Only thing left is the verticle shaft. Nothing below it. I am hoping to find a complete lower to have by Wed. Can't miss out on the 4th. Got alot of calls to make in the morning.

Eric,
I thought I found my problem to the loss of speed. It was the outdrive thingy hanging down in the water creating drag. Figured if I could go around 60mph and hit a rock..... Now I have no drag, and no speed. Damnit I just can't figure this boating chit out! I'm hoping with the quick amputation, that the upper is ok. I didn't see any damage from under the top cap or on the gimble.

All I got to say is it could have been really bad. 1st thing I did was raise the hatch to look for water rushing in. Not a drop.

Did see a Scarab at the ramp with a complete drive hanging by the hyd. trim lines. His gimble and housing is really busted up. Now he had a bad day.
Any progress?

ex42,
Yeah, I welded the heads and the block together. No, just letting it weep for now. Will fix it this winter. I did do a leak down and comp test. Came thru with better than new flying colors. Going to run it, just ain't going anywhere!

Default LOL!

Jerry, talk about a shortie lower case!! Too bad there is no room left to mount the prop.

Im glad there was no damage to you or the hull.

Yesterday was the 1st trip to the water in 3 months that I didn't have to open the hatch. Still disappointing, but better, it ran 73.8gps @ 5200. Same labbed 26 Hydro. I do know that it is running healthy as far as timing and air/fuel. Plugs are a perfect orangish/tan. I'll do a compression test again to see if #5 is still low. If so I'll fix it in the fall and maybe have Rod Dash do some head work.

talk soon! Eric

US1-somewhere along the way Merc added a oil passage to the bravo. If you want to mate a new unit with a older one you can plug the passage. Honestly though, the passage was added as a upgrade and offers improved oiling, so I'd try to utilize it.

Default I feel your pain...

Jerry,

Sorry to hear the news. I know exactly how you feel - I found a submerged stump last year and did basically what the guy in the Scarab did - drive was barely hanging on, would have sunk the boat if the bilge pump had not kept up. Surely someone on the board can get a new drive out to you. You might try Chris Martin at SterndriveSpec - he usually has one laying around, and he is a good guy to deal with.

Hope your luck changes!

What the F##K,

Are we giving out awards for who has the most problems? If so I think you just took the lead.

Actually I stoled the bottom half of your drive. I forgot the rusty shaft is in the top half. I'll trade ya.

One gallon of Gateraid and whole day of cussin later I got my new cable in. Thank God it was just the cable. I'm getting to old for this!

I hope your luck turns around soon Bro! I'll ask around about the drive.

Talk to ya soon.
