Default rub rail insert.... what is the secret to installing??

I have a 47 fountain and am installing new rub rail insert. It is realy hard to get it in... Is thete a tool out there that makes this easier? I have the hard rubber insert.

I did a smaller boat but similar stuff, I soaked the roll in a tub of REALLY hot water to soften it up, worked well....good luck with it.......it is a *****....

You got it Ive got a tub in my shop. hot water and done in 15 minutes.

Heat gun, or even the wifes haird dryer. Warm it uo and push it in with a flat blade putty knife. Peice of cake. Becarefull you don't stretch it when it is soft.

In addition to getting it warmed up to soften it, I use a storm window screen installation tool. It looks like a smaller diameter Pizza Cutter - except the wheel isn't sharp. Get the rubber insert softened up, then roll it right in with one of these bad boys and you'll wonder what all the crying is about.

Just be careful when installing the warmed rubber and not stretch it. It will take a while but it will shrink back up and leave a gap where you join the ends. I even stuff it in a little heavy there just so it wont gap later.
