I'm interested in ordering a new Checkmate 260 Convincer, but want bigger power than the standard 8.2. Cost wise and performance wise, which motor is better to go with? Also what drive set up should I go with?

This might not be the best comparison, but just looking for other power ideas besides 8.2. My current 26 Outlaw is slow with the HO and one of the main reasons I'm wanting to get new ride is to go faster......and something new and a little different.

My suggestion is stay over 500HP no matter what and stay away from those catalyst equipped emissions engines if at all possible. You might want to also consider comparing the Ilmor 650 to the newer Merc Racing HP565efi, closer in power between the two and both of these manufacuturers make great engines.

Does anybody know the dealers price difference between these two engines as a comparison?

As for a 26 baja with HO power, you just needed a Raylar 496 upgrade to get that Baja a little faster. I guess its also Ok to say Baja's are not one of the faster V-bottoms no matter what the power though, Eh?

My mind is not yet made up entirely for the Checkmate.......It's not even out yet and only seen a few pics.

As far as your 496 upgrade, what does this consist of and have you done this upgrade on any other 26 Outlaws and what were actual performance gains? Also, what is the price? A pm for response is fine as well.
