OK, putting everything back together and something isn't right. My system has been modified as each engine doesn't match the other and seeing how they are both in the same 1986 boat, I would think they would be the same!
So, I have a 1986 formula with the 260 HP mercruiser alpha 1 setup. One has the large thunderbolt ignition module, the other does have the thinner smaller version.
I am having trouble getting one of them hooked up correctly. Does anyone know where to find the wiring schematic for these motors? Even the one that is hooked back up, I still want the schematic to make sure it is correct and not "just the way it was when I got it".
If not online, attachments could be sent to my yahoo email address at befunovo
Thank you,
Brian

This older thread has a link to a diagram. This is how mine was wired except that my module was the black box style, 1986

Yeah, I noticed that also, I do have the shift interupter circuit. The one I had did show the alarm vs. gauges and had a key, so that was helpful. Between the two, I have it figured out.

Also just found this, a comparison of different marine alternators. I am changing one of my old altenators out for a new Delco 3 wire style and just had a few questions about the other two wires. This and the above schematics helped me to understand how it works.
