Default VSC decal...does it help?

I read somewhere that later this year it is going to be illegal to get pulled for a safety check if you have a VSC decal. But what about now...guys that currently have a VSC, do you still get pulled over?

Also, what is involved in getting the decal?

Call your local Coast Guard Auxillary and they will meet you to check your boat. Horn, nav lights,PFDs,Fire Ext,first aid kit, rules of the road book, flares must be current etc. Its easy if all your safety gear is there.
As far as getting pulled over they may overlook you if doing random checks. They can pull you over regardless.
I get mine done every year just for the hell of it. Its free and the guys are volunteering to help on their time. Never know if you overlooked something that can make your day safer on the water.
