So I assume this means my fuel pump is bad. I went to check the level today on my sea water mounted mechanical pump and fluid came screaming out. It was like it was over full probably because of all the gas in there.
This would explain the cutting out and stumbling with big throttle last weekend also.
I just want to be sure my findings are correct and that all I need is a new fuel pump and not a whole sea water pump too.
Anyone

this is common on all fuel pump mounted sea pumps .and everybody replaces the pump only to find the same thing next season .worked in a marina for 12 years and if i changed all the pumps that did this i would have stock in mercruiser

I would just change the oil for now, then check it again in about 20-25 hours.
Mine did the same thing this year when I pulled it to change the fluid. Typically I put about 60 hours a year on it, last year I did 110 so it went a lot longer than usual before I changed the fluid.
