Default 1989 242LS Depth Sounder

Need to replace my depth sounder on my boat. The original one is looking pretty faded and I'd like a back light. Which type of Transducer does the 242 come with the from factory? Transom-Mount Transducer or In-Hull Transducer? Hope to find one that's just plug and play.

Looking at this one for replacement:

Thanks,
Paul

My original is in hull.

The one you listed shows to be available in both types. If it will work with your "puck" in the hull and connect up then that would be easy. Not much info in the ad to go by for interchanging like that.

Older transducers were 192hz, at least mine was,it was a Lowrance 3500. Replaced with Lowrance 3800, which was a 200hz transducer. Quick way to tell is the old plug connector was just a two pin, new one is a 6 pin.

Good info. There are the nuts and bolts that I knew someone would know.

I remember crossing that bridge about 4 years ago on my SS. I just changed it all out due to compatibility issues. Also I found a depth finder system that can work simultaneously with a fish finder etc. That was a great duo.
