I am looking to put in the morning of the regatta and watch the races. Are there anyone that has done this? Where is a good place to put in and what does the schedule mean by "river closed"?

They will have the river closed to all traffic at the race site, which means if you launch north of Madison you will have to watch it from the north side, and if you launch south of the race course, you will watch it from the south side. We always used to drive up from Westport (KY) on the south side, and dropped anchor with the rest of the boats. Current is usually fast, so it can be tricky getting an anchor to hold, and even trickier getting your anchor back.

Not sure where to recommend launching. I know Madison itself has a large ramp right in the downtown area on the river, but that may be taken up with race operations. Someone from your side of the river may chime in with other options. I know there is a ramp in Charlestown, but that is about 40 miles to the south.
BTW, you might want to change your date from 6/7 to 7/6.
