Exclamation Scarab 29 1998 new owner wondering about speeds props and blowers

I just got a 1998 scarab 29 with small blocks has different exhaust carbs and intake. The motors have something done to them I have no idea what as this what a repo boat. I am getting 68 on gps with mirage three blade props. What should this boat run. What are some good things to do to the boat. Also anyone have one with small blocks and blowers? What kind of blowers and what does it run with them. Thanks for any insight

the 29 scarabs run 67 to 69 with stock small blocks in them running 23 pitch three blade props and as far as doing blowers on them have a good shop do the work and do the entire engine from crank to the heads with all good internals trust me on that part I learned the hard way and as for speed I still dont know yet we are still putting the motors back to gether again

I have twin small blocks stock with alphas and 4 blades. Not sure what it does yet but I have GPS speedo and it I have had it to 58MPH on that and that wasn't WOT. Also this is southern CA offshore so the seas aren't exactly smooth. Out here I will be happy if it goes 65.

It is the lower part of the drive that you have to replace with imco's modified lower that brings the propshaft 2" higher out of the water which allows the boat to run more level and lifts the whole boat out of the water for less wetted surface.

Imco new I believe they are $4000 ea. you can find used ones from $1800 and up or you can buy just the case and the shorter down shaft and take your internals out and put in new lower case. But also have to have bravo drive not alpha's. I don't recall if you were a single engine or a twin engine. I put 1 on my 97 single engine and ran amazingly better. You should pick up 5 mph top end and cruise 5-10 mph you will have to run a 4 blade prop and more then likely a bigger pitch prop.
