block off plate for gear fluid reservoir?

block off plate for gear fluid reservoir?
On my drives (Speed master IIs) there is a block off plate covering the port where the gear fluid can go from the reservoir to the outdrive. Has anybody seen this on theirs? Is this something special because I have speedmaster II lowers? It does not look like the block off plate was something someone made,
