Default Need recommendations. What are the best portable toilets out there?

Dometic. Thetford. Are they really all basically the same?

I am finally breaking down and getting one. Long days at the beach to keep the wives happy, and the kids are now too big for the portable solutions we had before are the main reasons.

This thing will come off the boat every time it is not being used and be stored in the garage or outside the garage/storage shed.

Any tips and tricks to upkeep and use are greatly appreciated!

Default As long as you realize...

...no matter what you get, it won't work with all your toys!

Intrepid ~ Boston Whaler ~ Kayaks ~ Windsurfers ~ Assorted Tub Toys

Do you have any dimensional restrictions?

They all do work basically the same, the difference seems to come in the seal and the ease of release of the fresh water and the black water sections.

I have worked with a couple that the seal never closed as well as one might hope and/or the top of the unit was hard to get off so it was somewhat cumbersome.

If you get one of the smaller units where the seat is low to the ground, remember it is not comfortable with your knees around your ears and the body doesn't seem to work correctly if legs are stretched out.

A "crappy" subject I agree.....but a serious one.
Yes, working within the confines of the cabin where the factory toilet was deleted.
Thanks. Never thought about the lower units being more difficult.
Any model recommendations anyone?

Default Be sure to measure...

...your space so you don't get something too big! Until you get into some of the "fancier" units I think the foot prints are the same, it is the heights that change.

Almost anything that says Thetford should be good.

I discovered the use of too much of the deodorant was almost as unpleasant as using none, so you might want to experiment with that a little.
