Did some test runs with a different prop today, I have a 23 outlaw with a 496 mag ho raylar spec, I am a little concerned about my oil pressure. It didnt fluctuate much between crusing speeds 3900 rpm and wot 4800rpm 71-72 mph it was running about 40-42 psi on the gauge ...I also noticed when I first launced the boat and did a wot run I was faster and pushing about 4950 rpm and about 74 mph this was about an hour later...engine temp is about 175-185...it seemed to run good just lost speed and rpms the second time around and a tad bit of oil pressure? The exhaust had almost a white smoke? Too rich? And second run lost rpm due to engine temp in comparison to a cool engine on the first wot run? Rev limit is set at 5200, Im running a 25p Rev 4 prop. thanks guys!

hope that aint oil temp. even high for water temp... oil pressure seems a little low to .. im no pro though . 10 pds for every thousand rpm .

It was water temp... when running it was a tad lower but yes the oil pressure seemed a tad low and why I lost some rpms bothers me!!

bear with as i try to remember since it has been 4 yrs since I had my Baja with 496.

I believe when running my oil pressure was any from 40-60 probaby closer to 60. At idle it was definitely around 40 which is where the boat i have now is.

Water temp at 175. I believe that to be ok after a WOT run. My temp gauge would go up for a bit after run. Once it idled for a bit or i started cruising it would drop back down to 150 or less.

White smoke out the exhaust....that would concern me. Are you sure it just wasn't steam vapor from the warm water.

When I had my 02fault 25 outlaw with the 496 ho motor at any em's above 2500 I had between 50-60250-500 psi. I ran 20w-50 motor oil and changed it every 50 hrs. As far as the smoke I used to get that too after a wot run it was steam from the exhaust and depending on how cool the water was that I was running in. Hope this helps.
