Default Back in the Market!?!

Well after being a landshark for the past 4 years- i am back looking for a new (to me) ride. Last toy was a 280 Velocity with a single 502 pushin her. Wife wants to step to minimum of a 35' which to me means twice the headaches. We have been looking at a '01 38 lighting with HP 500's approx 300 hours on stock set-up. Anyone have an idea what i am looking at for basic rebuild on the motors? Has the HP500 had any "issues" that i should be looking for? What should compression be on something with that many hours? The boat was maintained by the "stealership" that has it for sale on consignment - so although i want to trust them not sure i am getting the "unbiased" facts. Any and all opinions would be great.
Thanks for the help!!

I heard (no personal experience) that the valve springs needed replacing around the 200-250 hr mark. You may want to put this in the Fountain section. I'm sure you will get an answer from someone who owns that year and model.

I climbed all over the various models and liked the room down below on the 38'. Sink in head, lots of nice features. Enjoy!

Do a full survey and have the engines gone over contingent to purchace. Replace springs if need be and you should get 1k hrs before OH if maintained and treated accordingly.
