Check references! and dont pay a dime up front. I paid Autli Transport to rescue my boat and they were great.

Default Ush....

I will back this up. Uship sucks!!! I recently had to have some parts moved from TN to CA. The users on there wasted 2 months of my time and one never refunded my money so i had to dispute charges. I hired 3 different drivers and each one had some freak issue a day before scheduled pick up. Here are the excuses i got.
First guy: engine blew up. Truck is in shop. This is the guy that never refunded my money.
Second guy: car accident.
Third guy: car accident.
Funny how all of these people blow up or crash their trucks. Yet still get reviews on uship while they are suppose to be in the shop. And Why would i hire someone who cant drive worth a crap.
Also, after i finally found a legit transporter they told me these people on uship are mostly transporting for hire illegally. Which i verified is true. Even if they claim to have insurance and proper license class. It wont mean anything to you if they damage your stuff. Real transporters have to use weigh stations and log their hours thy are regulated by the DOT.

Thumbs down U-ship rip offs

How about the "Trailers illegal" but I just happen to have one for sale. Or. There is gas in the tank, I'll have to charge for the extra weight. Or, The (new Goodyear trailer) tires dont look good enough to make the trip. Or Its too late at night (now that Im finished at the boat show) so you'll have to book us into a hotel scam ..U-Ship sucks and the bush trash idiots that they send are worse.

YEP I agree. Uship.com has just created a haven for scam artists and for people to screw other people over. They should Be SHUT DOWN. Didn't craigslist get in trouble for this before?? (personal ads)
They also dont give a crap about you as a user if you have a problem with one of there providers. They use the excuse "we just provide a place for people to find providers we dont regulate them" for EVERYTHING.

this was their e mail
Thank you for your email. The uShip marketplace is a neutral online venue for shippers and transportation service providers to find each other for the purposes of conducting business with one another.
As a neutral venue, uShip is not a transportation service provider, freight forwarder, or broker. Since uShip is not involved in the actual transaction between shippers and service providers, we do not prequalify or validate the claims of TSPs including with respect to their licensure, insurance and registration. We have no control over the accuracy of listings, the ability of service providers to transport items, or the ability of shippers to send items. uShip cannot ensure that a shipper or service provider will actually complete a shipment.
Every Service Provider that is a uShip member has agreed to the uShip user agreement which states that they can only bid on items that they are legally able to haul. With that said, uShip does not screen any Service Providers. uShip recently added an option for Service Provider to post their US DOT and MC numbers directly from the US FMCSA’s SAFER databases so that you can click the links on their profiles to see this information straight from their profiles. I would highly recommend looking for this information and making sure their information is up to date and active.
All of uShip’s drivers are feedback rated. By clicking on service provider’s user name, you will be taken to their profile page where you can read their feedback and get to know more about them. Feedback is how the uShip community rates its drivers and communicates the experiences that they had with particular drivers. uShip also allows you to communicate with the drivers through the Q & A board as well as through bid details.
Once a match is made on our site, uShip releases both parties’ contact information. At that point, you can ask the driver for all necessary documents and information such as insurance, bills of lading, legal documents, additional references, etc. If after reviewing that information, you don’t feel comfortable with the driver then you can request to cancel the match and re-list your shipment in the marketplace.
After each transaction is complete you can leave feedback for the service provider. This helps to ensure the service provider goes the extra mile.

Wow. That sucks that a boat was hurt by uship.
Seriously though, most discussions I have heard were not too good with moving a boat through uship.

There are legit companies listed there and a friend of a friend of a friend. The company options are over priced in most any competition because Uship charges toooooooo much on their fees.

My understanding is that Uship was created by those who brought eBay as another way to get money on the total experience of the auction and shipping. The problem is that the buddy system doesn't have insurance so they can compete really cheap but buyer beware!!!!!!!

I have some exchanges there. Saved some bucks but did a lot of homework first.

When I was transporting boats I tried to use Uship but I was competing with non insured drivers with no DOT authority to transport. They would use F 150's to haul 28 foot boats, price the trip for less than the fuel I would use, then cancel or want more money. Uship had no control over them and just let these illegal haulers run wild. Boat transporters need DOT and MC numbers, insurance, they must stop at weigh stations and they must keep a log of hours. If they don't do all of the above they are not legal and you could have your boat held at a weigh station until you hire a legal transporter.
