Default Traverse City Cherry Festival

Just want to pass on some information to OSO members if your coming to TC for Cherry Festival.

USCG Cutter Katmai Bay launches their small boat and does security stops on all boats that come close to the cutter. They will be here from now until Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Station Charleviox, DNR and Sheriff patrols will be doing extra enforcement from Traverse City out to Power Island.

Traverse City Police have Sea Doo explorer they will use to work the boats on the hook from Holiday Inn to M-72.

Traverse City Fire Dept. RHI will be out doing patrol enforcing the safety box for the air show and fireworks.

The area around the city is already a mess with boats rafting. Watch for kayaks around TC and then north of Power Island. They like to cross the lake from the launch just south of Suttons Bay to the Peninsula.

Some good info. Was out all day and saw them patrolling but not harassing, which is a good thing. Glad they are there to do their job for sure. Don't like when they abuse it though! Fireworks were amazing tonight! VERY busy in the bay though. Lots of boats and lots of fun!

If anyone is going to be in town for the end of Cherry Festival fireworks and has a slip at Clinch Park, we took a lot of complaints about ash and cardboard pieces landing on boats after the show on the 4th. For some reason they are not following the past practice of going 2500 feet off the marina. We asked them to go 1400 feet instead of the 1000 they did on the 4th.
Even at 1400 feet, with the slightest north breeze I would be pulling up stakes and heading to the up wind side of the show instead of getting crap all over the boat.
