Default Havi Limescale??

I have some white looking film on the outdrives and bottom from it sitting in the water all weekend.. Does this stuff take MPH off the top? It feels kinda chalky like it might be limescale? How to remove it.. Do It CLR the entire bottom? Any help would be great!!

Hi Chad,
I used to use Vinegar and water. 25% white vinegar and 75% distilled water and it does an ok job of getting the lime deposits off, but a friend recently introduce me to "Hot Sauce". This is a spray on cleaner and it really works well. You can buy it at any of the boating supply shops, it costs about $18.95 for a 1 quart spray bottle, and you can buy a gallon for about $50.00. Works great, and doesn't take the wax off like the vinegar does. I like it much better than the vinegar trick.

I've found that Bio-Kleen has a product called Oxidation Remover that works amazing on removing that.

Slimy Grimy makes a nice hull cleaner as well that wont damage the metal parts. You can get On & Off at west marine but be carefull using it. It will damage the paint on a trailer and will turn black plastic parts white. Its some nasty acid but will clean the thickest crap off a hull.

I loved that stuff, I just hosed down my trailer and kept the hose close when I was using it, if there were any drips I just shot it real quick. I haven't used any of the other stuff but that On/Off was fast.

CLR or Lime Away works good on that hard water.

Something you may want to consider- Are the drives getting hot?

My boat sat in that water for 10 days without buildup.
