Was wandering if any body knows what the timing curve is for a 500 HP (Carb Motor). I installed an MSD ignition system & I'm trying to set up the distributor for the advance. Any help would be appreciated thanks !

Run the light springs and black bushing, should get you where you want to be. 14 initial, 34-36 total.

The stock Merc module has 20* of advance that is all in by 3000rpms. It advances about 1* for every 100rpms after 1000rpms.

Can't understand why MSD is supposed to be so great. I've read more threads over the years about problems with them.

FWIW, I have HEI distributors and no problems in 2 seasons.
