We had past this boat moments before and decided to circle around and come up behind them again. As we made our second pass up to them all of a sudden we saw a huge spray and I turned to my buddy Mike and said "wow did you see that ?" we pulled up and made sure everyone was ok. They said they were fine but shook up and headed back to Grand Haven to regroup. I was telling my camera man in the helocopter what i saw out there and he looked at me and said "I got it on film" was a scary moment. Now I know what it looked like when i did that years before in my scarab on the way back across the lake from Chicago

A good example of running too slow with negative trim in rough water.

I did this once at just above idle and you would be amazed at how much water comes at you! Storm was approaching (summer, S. Florida, daily occurence) and my neighbor and I ran back 11 miles on the open ocean to avoid the storm (idle zones in ICW make a long trip!). Get to the Jupiter Inlet and follow a big CC in, guy gets 20 ft in past the start of the jetty and pulls the sticks back to idle. Tide is outgoing and I am riding the top of a wave and see what he just did (going faster than him, so I pull the sticks back only to fall off the wave and dunk the nose). 3-4 inch water wall comes over the nose (boat is an open bow, this is going to suck) and knocks sunglasses/hats off and it was somewhat of a slap to your face. My neighbor laughs and asked had I ever had that happen before? Cabin is full of water up to the couches (knee deep, sloshing around) and the cockpit is ankle deep. All three bilge pumps are going full blast and by the time we hit the ramp the bilge is dry.

This was a lot of water at less than 10 mph, I couldn't imagine it at the speed the video showed!
