I have 2 db electric marine 1 wire alternators. 4 years on one of them and bought another one this year for my 2nd engine. btw I ran that 1 alternator for 2 engines for the last 4 years.
If you buy them from db use their ebay site and save the $25 shipping.

I have had a one wire from DB for over four years. One of the best buys around for a marine 105 amp. The starters I have had issues with. If you run one on a big block watch out for any type of kick back. It will tear the gears out of those made in China starters. DB has the best warranty of anybody just send it back.

The shop I used to rebuild starters & alternators for my shop showed me that the planetary gears are plastic, even on merc starters. they strip out pretty easily.

and the rebuilders here use the same chinese regulators and rectifiers used in the ebay alternators. auto electric isn't rocket science. and it doesn't have to stand up to big power like most everything else under that hatch.
